Whether it’s a rolling vineyard, a breezy lakefront patio, or a cozy downtown tasting room, there’s no shortage of beautiful spots to sip and soak in the views.
The best part about Kelowna wineries is that don’t need a special occasion—just grab some friends, book a tasting (or wing it), and make a day of it.
So, let’s jump into six must-visit East Kelowna wineries that bring the best of both worlds—great wine and fun experiences!
If you really want to sit back and enjoy the experience, booking a guided wine tour is the way to go. No worrying about driving, no second-guessing which wineries to visit—just hop in, relax, and let someone else handle the details while you sip your way through Kelowna.
East Kelowna Wineries You Need to Visit
I’ve lived in Kelowna for years, but I’ll admit—wine hasn’t always been my thing. I’ve always been more into the outdoors, spending my time hiking, paddling, and exploring all the incredible places the Okanagan has to offer.
But over the last couple of years, I’ve started to really enjoy checking out Kelowna’s local wineries and restaurants. And wow, I was seriously missing out! I’m still far from a wine connoisseur, but I do love the experience.
These are my go-to wineries in East Kelowna. There are plenty of great spots, but somehow, I always find myself coming back to these ones.
Summerhill Pyramid Winery
If there’s one winery in Kelowna that stands out—literally—it’s Summerhill Pyramid Winery. Not only does it have stunning views of Okanagan Lake, but it also has a massive pyramid. Yep, an actual pyramid.
I’ve been to Summerhill a few times, and while the tasting room is decent, the best way to experience it is by grabbing a table at the Sunset Organic Bistro. I love sitting outside with a glass of wine, looking out over the vineyard and the lake. I always find myself ordering another glass just to stay a little longer.
Summerhill focuses on organic and biodynamic wines—and, of course, pyramids. They age their wine inside their massive pyramid, which they say is one of the most precisely sacred-geometry-aligned in the world, second only to the Great Pyramid of Giza. And yes, you can go inside.
They say this pyramid aging enhances the flavour and energy of the wine. Does it actually make a difference? I like to think it does, but who knows. It’s definitely a fun story to talk about while sipping some pinot gris.
If you want great views, good wine, and a little bit of mystery, Summerhill is a great stop. Make sure to grab a seat at the bistro for the full experience!
PS: A little off topic, but I once attended a sound bath and (a different) revival event inside the pyramid. At the time, I was dealing with a lot of anger after our house was set on fire, but afterwards I felt so much lighter. Sounds wild, I know, but it’s the truth. Whether or not the pyramid actually has energy-enhancing powers is up for debate—but I can’t deny that it had an impact on me.
Sandhill Wines
Kelowna has a ton of wineries, but Sandhill is the only one right downtown. No winding roads, no designated driver debates—just walk in, sip some wine, and walk back out into the heart of the city. Easy.
I love how bright, airy, and inviting the space is. The tasting room has a fun, modern vibe, with comfy, colourful couches that make it easy to settle in and stay awhile. It feels more like a stylish lounge than a traditional winery which makes it a great spot to relax without any of the usual wine-country fuss.
And of course, the wine is solid. Sandhill focuses on small-lot wines and has won more awards than I can count. If you’re already downtown, it’s an easy way to add some wine tasting to your day.
Grab a flight, pick up a bottle (or three), and keep the fun going—many of Kelowna’s best breweries, restaurants, and waterfront views are within easy walking distance!
Tantalus Vineyards
Tantalus has some of the best views in Kelowna, hands down. It sits high on the hillside, looking straight out over Okanagan Lake and has endless rows of vines and wide-open skies.
I’ve always loved visiting for the scenery, but the more I’ve learned about how sustainable they are, the more I appreciate what they do. They farm everything 100% sustainably, skip the harsh chemicals, and were even the first winery in BC to be LEED-certified, which basically means they went all-in on building an eco-friendly, energy-efficient winery from the ground up.
One of my favourite things about Tantalus are the bees. They’ve got a bee tour where you can explore the vineyard and see these little pollinators in action. It’s a fun way to mix things up between tastings—I love that they’ve found a way to make wine and help the environment at the same time.
Of course, the wine itself is great. Tantalus is all about Riesling and even if Riesling isn’t usually your thing, give it a shot—you might be surprised. They also make great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, all grown on a vineyard that’s been around since 1927.
The tasting room is bright and modern with lovely outdoor seating—no stuffy wine talk, just great wine, a relaxed vibe, and one of the best views in town.
Priest Creek Family Estate Winery
Priest Creek isn’t a big-name winery and that’s exactly why I love it. It’s small, family-run, and laid-back—the kind of place where you can take your time, actually enjoy your wine, and not feel crammed into a busy tasting room.
The atmosphere here is what makes it special. The outdoor tasting area feels like a little slice of Tuscany with a vine covered terrace, fresh air, and plenty of space to stretch out. You can grab a glass, sit back, and let the afternoon slow down. They’ve even got lawn games!
They focus on small-batch, handcrafted wines, and while their Bordeaux-style reds get a lot of attention, I always go for the rosé in the summer. It’s crisp, refreshing, and basically patio season in a glass.
If you stop by on a weekend, keep an eye out for their food trucks—because wine is even better when there’s a snack involved. And their food is top notch.
If you’re looking for a chill, no-fuss winery with great reds and a fun, welcoming vibe, Priest Creek is worth checking out.
The Vibrant Vine Winery
The first time I walked into The Vibrant Vine, they handed me a pair of 3D glasses—and that’s when I knew this wasn’t going to be your average wine tasting. The entire tasting room is covered in wild, 3D artwork and it’s just as fun as it sounds.
But don’t let the quirky vibe fool you—the wine here is actually really good. Their Oops white (now called Woops) became famous for accidentally winning Best White Wine in the World (yes, the world) and having an upside down label. They’ve also got a great Gewürztraminer and some easy-drinking reds, all with labels as colourful as the winery itself.
They also have big, grassy lawn that’s perfect for kicking back with a glass and if you visit on the right day, you’ll probably catch some live music or an event. Once you’re settled in with a glass of wine and some good tunes, it’s pretty hard to leave.
If you like your wine with a side of creativity, music, and good vibes, Vibrant Vine is a must-visit.
Meadow Vista Honey Wine
Meadow Vista isn’t your typical winery—in fact, it’s not a winery at all. Instead of grapes, they make mead (aka honey wine) and it’s one of the most unique spots in Kelowna.
If you’ve never tried mead before, think of it as the oldest alcoholic drink in the world that’s made by fermenting honey with water and fruit. And trust me, it’s worth a taste.
I’ve been here a few times and I love how laid-back and cozy it feels. It’s on a small farm with buzzing beehives, a cute little shop, and a peaceful outdoor space. They also run some really fun events like s’mores nights where you can roast marshmallows and sip mead by the fire.
Their mead comes in all kinds of styles—sparkling, dry, sweet, and even cider-like versions—so there’s something for everyone. We always grab a bottle of their spiced mead for Thanksgiving because it’s warm and perfect for fall. Another favourite is their Sparkling Cyser, a honey-apple hybrid that’s super refreshing on a hot day.
Meadow Vista is calm, welcoming, and very different from a traditional wine stop. Plus, who doesn’t love a place where you can sip honey wine, snack on s’mores, and hang out with bees?
Sip, Savour & Soak in the Views
Kelowna has no shortage of wineries, but the ones with great wine and fun atmospheres are my favourites. Whether I’m playing a lawen game at Priest Creek, looking out over Okanagan Lake at Tantalus, or enjoying an easy downtown tasting at Sandhill, there’s something special about sipping wine in a beautiful place.
Cheers to good wine, great views, and slowing down to enjoy both!
